On April 10, the Eve of Lazarus Saturday, three young boys were received as catechumens in preparation for their baptism on Holy Saturday. They were exorcized; that is, in the Name and by the power of Jesus Christ, we commanded the Devil and all his cooperating spirits to leave them and have no further contact with them. Then their sponsors renounced for them "Satan, and all his works, and all his angels, and all his service and all his pride," and affirmed, "I have united myself to Christ...I believe in Him as King and God," and recited the Creed.
