Biography

The Reverend Michael Rehmet

Rector

Father Michael and Matushka Gina Marie converted to Orthodoxy in 2009. Father Michael initially served his home parish as a member of both the choir and altar servers, served six years as Warden, and was tonsured Reader, Sub-Deacon and Deacon before going to St. Tikhon’s Orthodox Theological Seminary in the Autumn of 2020. Father Michael was ordained to the Holy Priesthood by His Grace Bishop Gerasim at St. Tikhon’s on the Feast of the Presentation of our Lord at the Temple, February 2, 2023. He graduated from St. Tikhon’s in May of 2023, and came to Holy Resurrection in August of that year.

Father Michael and his eldest son, Elias, hold the distinction of being the first father/son duo to graduate in the same class from St. Tikhon’s, founded in 1938.

Father Michael and Matushka Gina are the proud parents of three fine young men, all of whom are dedicated to the Orthodox Church, along with their lovely wives and families. Father Michael and Matushka Gina are the proud grandparents of two beautiful grandsons, and they hope that number will increase before too long, God willing.

The Very Reverend Paul Yerger

Pastor Emeritus

Father Paul is the founding pastor of Holy Resurrection. Originally an Episcopalian clergyman, he was ordained to the Holy Priesthood in 1977, and served as parish rector here until he retired in December 2023. His wife, the late Matushka Sissy, reposed in 2015. He has three daughters and two grandsons.

In June 2021, in recognition of his years of priestly service, he received the right to wear the mitre during the Divine Liturgy.

The Reverend Deacon Michael Chittom

Deacon Michael Chittom was raised in a Baptist family but began attending services at Holy Resurrection as a high school student in the late 1990s. After moving away for college and two overseas deployments with the US Army, he met Matushka Rebecca, and they were married in December 2005. They returned to Clinton in 2009, and were received into the Church in 2011.

In June 2022, he was tonsured a Reader by His Grace Gerasim, Bishop of Fort Worth, and the following year entered the Diaconal Vocations Program. On Pentecost in 2026 he was raised to the subdiaconate and ordained to the Holy Diaconate by His Eminence Alexander, Archbishop of Dallas and the South.

He and Matushka Rebecca have three sons and five daughters.
